i'm back

i've had tons of responses to interviews, and i promise more will be posted soon. i haven't forgotten, i'm just super lazy.

but here's a few things i've rediscovered lately (some old favorites, some recent discoveries i'd forgotten how much i enjoyed). i firmly believe that each and every one is guaranteed to make your day better!

- Hot Chocolate. I never drink hot chocolate anymore, and then for christmas, my parents got a hot chocolate maker and some really yummy chocolate. got me thinking - cocoa used to be one of my favorite treats, why don't i drink it more? so i've started getting this yuumy drink when i'm feeling a little blue, or a little cold, and it always makes me smile!
-Project Runway. i was obsessed with this show last season. i loved austin scarlett for his glamourous old movie star feel, and jay for his amazing, real, funky designs. this season is almost as good (the challenges are a bit more predictable now, in the second season), some of the designers are so talented, and my love for tim gunn grows with every episode. every episode leaves me grinning.
-REM. i have had a crush on michael stipe forever. since sixth grade, when i first discovered REM. it's a totally platonic crush, but i love his music, his politics, the statements he's made when asked about his personal life. i'll go months, sometimes years, without listening to this band, and then i'll go searching for new music and remember how much i love this band. back on my radar right now: Me in Honey, At My Most Beautiful, Driver 8, Falls to Climb, and my favorite, King of Birds.
-Free To Be... You and Me. i recently remembered this favorite album from childhood. if you've never heard it, you're not alone. i have met only 2 other people who've ever heard of it, but it was a favorite record growing up. created by marlo thomas, because she couldn't find childrens stories that had positive messages for children, it's a cornucopia of powerful stories of believing in yourself and songs with serious seventies beats. in college, a dear friend (who is one of the 2 people i know who had also experienced this record and video growing up) got me the cd, and i unearthed it tuesday. i have had the most joyful 2 days walking around listening to mel brooks, carol channing, marlo thomas, diana ross and others tell me stories and sing as i travel the mean streets of new york.

Peg told Greg
She liked to make things out of chairs.
Greg told Peg
Sometimes he still hugged teddy bears.

So they sneaked in the living room
and piled all the pillows up
and made it a rocket ship
to fly in.
And the bears were their girls and boys
And they were the astronauts
Who lived on the moon
With one pet lion,
Singin'

Glad to have a friend like you,
Fair, and fun, and skippin' free.
Glad to have a friend like you,
And glad to just be me!
