adventures in brooklyn

jen and i went to visit erika in brooklyn today. the trip had 2 purposes - we hadn't seen her beautiful new apartment, and we wanted to go to target. erika's apartment is, of course, amazing. she and her roommate cindy have amazing taste, and the place is so homey and well decorated. i am a bit jealous (alright, very) of how crafty and clever and organized they are.

at target, i decided to get a new watch. i lost my watch in may, and i've been planning to get a new watch ever since. but i never see one i love - either i find ones that are too expensive, or i don't think they're cute enough. it's just a watch, i know, but i want one that has a face i can read easily and a nice strap, and doesn't cost more than $25. (since i lost my last one, i don't want one that i'll be sad if it breaks or if i lose it.) because i have tiny wrists, i decided to try the kids watches. and i found one that i LOVED! i didn't get it. i got a very practical, plain silver watch with black numbers on the face, with a pink strap. it's a very nice watch. it has indiglo, so if it's dark i can still see the face. very high-tech for me. and it's very nice, very simple. quite practical.

but i really wanted this one:

jen and erika talked me out of it. they said it was too young for me. but i don't know. all the way back to manhattan, i kept thinking about the watch. i may need to go back and get it. it has a ladybug for a second hand that crawls around the face, and an elastic watch band with ladybugs. and it's pink and purple. fancy!

when did i become 3 years old again?

Jen and Erika are old fogies. Go back and buy the ladybug watch. That's the one you want to wear.

thanks mjc. i will probably end up getting the watch. although i looked on the timex website and discovered they also make one with hearts and butterflies. which is also adorable. but that one may be a little too adorable...

I had a watch nearly identical to that when I was 5. It was pink and purple, but it had some non-ladybug pattern that I'm not recalling at the moment, maybe flowers? It was a good watch. You should get it.
