it's been too long

sorry. i know no one reads this anymore, since i never post. i guess that now means i can be even more boring.

in no particular order:
  • kevin and i went to visit my sister in portland, oregon last month. i love that city! it's small, the kind of city that seems really managable and has a real small-town feel. but it has so many funky neighborhoods and cool places to shop and eat. i thing there are more coffee shops in portland than in manhattan, but most are smaller, less chain-y. again, i had an overwhelming urge to move to portland and open a knitting shop and get a big dog and a few cats. despite the almost constant rain, we were able to do a lot and see so much of the city - we found a few rain-less hours and went to the japanese gardens, we spent the rainiest day at the science museum solving puzzles and seeing an imax film and exploring a real submarine, and got caught in a huge hail storm at the zoo (and got the chance to see the animals that were silly enought to hang out outside in the rain). and the best part - spending a long weekend with liz, who i don't see nearly enough. i forget how wonderful it is having a sister who knows me so well she just has to look at me to make me laugh!
  • it's starting to feel like summer! i'm craving sandals, baseball games and picnics in central park. and i want to wear pretty dresses and sit outdoors at cute cafes and people watch and be as cool as the women of sex and the city.
  • i'll admit it. i'm becoming obsessed with Rachael Ray. i love cooking shows in general - Top Chef is quickly becoming one of my favorites. but somehow i can't stop watching rachael ray's shows. i think the idea of quick meals that are easy to make, and cool restaurants that are fun and cheap. my kind of food!
  • i'm looking for suggestions of new things - new music, good books, new places to explore in the city, good places to go on day trips out of the city this summer. email me, leave a comment, make a suggestion!
